Our latest shoppable video has just launched, and we are delighted to announce that it was created for the Valentino x MyTheresa prelaunch of selected Fall/Winter ‘17 collection items.
This exclusive sneak peek of Valentino’s much anticipated next collection is presented through a film which was directed by the double Swedish Grammy award winner Joanna Nordahl. A variety of characters are present in the film, accompanied by the original song ‘Species’ by Eliot Sumner. The entire collection will be released in one week, with only certain items showcased in the preview film in order to whet the appetite of Valentino followers.

It was a delight to work with MyTheresa following previous collaborations we have done together and we have been especially proud to see publicity surrounding the film. For example, an article dedicated exclusively to the film has been published by Women’s Wear Daily (which you can read here).

MyTheresa have also shared exclusive behind the scenes footage on their Instagram stories and through Instagram posts, linking to the shoppable video itself. It’s great to have such positive feedback on the film, resulting in a wider range of viewers and potential customers.

Customer engagement with the video is high with the Instagram involvement causing a significant impact on views. This means overall, more customers engage with the interactive experience generated by Smartzers interactive video platform. Customers are given the opportunity to explore the pieces displayed on the screen in an easy, immersive way.

We have really enjoyed working on this captivating and unique film, which you can enjoy here, and we would like to say thank you to MyTheresa and Valentino for asking us to do so.
We’re now eagerly anticipating the official release of the Fall/Winter ’17 collection!

We were delighted to be invited to attend Fung Global Retail & Technology’s event Breakfast with the Disruptors on the 2nd May in New York.
Fung Global Retail & Technology is a think tank which tracks and publishes research on emerging retail and technology trends, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between retail and technology. Breakfast with the Disruptors was a fantastic networking opportunity with like-minded individuals.

Deborah Weinswig, Managing Director at Fung Global, led the event. Deborah is an award-wining global retail analysts and specialises in retail innovation and technology. It was especially exciting to hear her speak at Breakfast with the Disruptors, where she provided some interesting facts. In Israel, retail technology investment is up 120%, and more than $4.8 billion was invested in Israeli high technology start-ups in 2016. Observing and learning about how technology is changing the retail industry is great as it indicates how Smartzer’s technology can be used as a tool by retailers to engage consumers and monetize promotional content.

The breakfast was a pitch event, providing us with an exciting opportunity to share our recent successes with Smartzer and explain our vision for the company’s future. There were eight start-ups pitching overall, and it was a real honour to be included in a group of such enigmatic, innovative and successful companies. One of these start-ups was Nineteenth Amendment, another New York Fashion Tech Lab alumni company. It was great to catch up! Our pitch went well and Karoline received positive feedback from members of the audience about our work and recent projects.

The overall winners of the pitches were Everywear and Furnishr, and we would like to say a massive well done for such successful and engaging pitches!

Thank you again to Fung Global Retail and Technology for such an interesting and thought-provoking morning, and for inviting us to pitch Smarzter!

From 4th-6th April 2017, Miles (Head of Business Development) attended World Retail Congress in Dubai. Here's his summary about his time at the event:
Held annually, World Retail Congress brings together world leaders in retail to share expertise and research in an international extravaganza. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the event and the theme was “Reimagining the customer experience”, an aim which is top priority for so many retailers at the moment.

In exploring this theme, I kept myself busy attending talks and showcasing Smartzer. We had been delighted to be selected to by the Department for International Trade to represent the UK as part of their “Best of British Brands at World Retail Congress” group. This gave us the opportunity to network with a range of retail experts and company representatives and share Smartzer’s shoppable video technology and vision for interactive videos. Of course, our work is especially pertinent to this year’s theme as we are able to utilise our unique technology to transform the customer experience. Demonstrating the potential for a seamless shopping experience directly from a company’s existing video content.

Beyond sharing the exciting potential for Smartzer’s video content marketing technology, there were over 130 speakers including retail leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs, giving a range of interesting, educational and current talks. Highlights from the talks that we attended include Karen Katz (CEO, President and Director, Neiman Marcus) speaking on “Retaining Relevance: The Rejuvenation of Brand”. We also had the chance to hear a panel discussion about value retailing as the next retail revolution from Sander van der Laan (CEO, Action), Nicholas Dreyfus (Co-Founder & CEO, The Kooples), and Karl Heinz-Holland (Former CEO, LIDL). These talks, amongst others, provided valuable insights into the opinions of industry experts about the future of retail and I'm looking forward to sharing these with the rest of the Smartzer team.

As always, it was great to catch up with previous and existing clients as well as making new connections, and I had plenty of exciting conversations where positive feedback about Smartzer’s work was given!

Smartzer would like to say a massive thank you to World Retail Congress for putting on such an engaging and relevant few days in a wonderful location!
